BASIC 10Liner Contest 2022 results

The results of the 11th edition of the BASIC 10Liner Contest, a coding competition which accepts submissions of games written with only 10 lines of BASIC code for 8-bit computer systems, were published last Saturday.

I joined the contest by submitting three games for the PUR-80 (max 80 characters per logical line, abbreviations allowed) category: Bastilude and Fishie – keep the sea plastic free! for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and JAMGame – Just Another Memory Game for the Sinclair ZX81.

Fishie – keep the sea plastic free! ranked 7th out of 38 entries in the PUR-80 category. Despite the 25th position, Bastilude was particularly appreciated by the public, and ranked 2nd in the Public’s Choice charts. Finally, JAMGame ranked 18th, ahead of other ZX81 entries.

While hoping for a better positioning of Bastilude, I am very satisfied with the achieved results. Moreover, I already have some ideas I hope I’ll be able to develop for the next edition of the contest.

I couldn’t try all the other entries yet; however, I particularly appreciated 8-bit Sunset (winner of the SCHAU category) and STOP THE micro EXPRESS (winner of the EXTREM-256 category). The latter shows a clever use of the LPRINT statement for exceptionally fast animations.

Thanks Gunnar and all people involved in this great contest!
