Who remembers Aldo’s Adventure?

Aldo’s Adventure is a nice shareware platformer for DOS, developed in 1987 by David Ibach and his son Benjamin.
Basically, it’s a remake with EGA graphics of Yahoo Software’s classic Ladder for CP/M, inspired by Donkey Kong.
Subsequently, two sequels were made: Aldo Again and Aldo’s Assault.

The game, which I used to play on my 286 PC, was included in the floppy disks attached to issue 10/1991 of PC DUPLEX magazine, published by the Logica 2000 group, which I bought almost 30 years ago.

From time to time, I still have a go at Aldo’s Adventure; here is a video of my last game play:

If you are interested, the BallyAlley website features an interview with author David Ibach, dating back to 2006.

Last but not least, my appreciation for Aldo’s Adventure is witnessed by the fact that the game was the inspiration for Farmer Sam’s Dog Day, my platformer for the ZX Spectrum Next.

Now, go and find those treasure chests!
