A small update on the new features I added to my CHIP-8/SuperCHIP virtual machine for the ZX Spectrum Next:
- key press effect on virtual keypad,
- sound (not captured in the video) and
- joystick support for better usability.
I also started working on configuration files parsing in order to have per-program joystick and colour configuration: as you can see in the video, every game has its own colours! At first, I started writing a full configuration file parser but it became too big, so I replaced it with a dummy fixed-position parser. It does its job, but there’s still a lot of polishing to do…
Getting ready for the Cascade SD 5000! 😅
